Panel 1 - New Destinations - Where Next?

We are born with an urge to see what’s over the next hill. Where are we travelling in 2025 and where in the years to come? This panel will explore new horizons and investigate emerging trends. We’ll get a handle on where the travel industry is set to grow and what are the future opportunities for the tourists of tomorrow.

Something to think about:

Travellers increasingly want to visit new destinations and immerse themselves in indigenous cultures while leaving a lighter footprint - how can the travel industry meet these competing demands?

Should tourism boards prioritise the development of undiscovered destinations?

Is limiting visitor numbers to prevent over-tourism the right approach?

How best to listen and respond to local concerns.

Why not spread the load and let algorithms decide where we go?

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Lunch & Networking
1:00 PM – 1:25 PM
Fireside Chat w/ Steve Hill, CEO, Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority
1:25 PM – 2:30 PM
Panel 2 - Tomorrow’s Traveller: How will technology transform travel by 2030?

This panel will look into the digital transformation. How do we leverage the benefits of AI in tourism? What are the potential pitfalls? How can we enhance the travel experience? How can companies ensure operational excellence in one of the most complex industries in the world whilst utilising new and uncertain technologies?

 – - – – –

Will tech tools cost jobs in tourism?

Apps have become popular with travellers booking holidays but will AI take over as your personal holiday planner and how will that affect the industry?

Covid saw staycations boom but is the trend here to stay?

How is the growing appetite for luxury and super-luxury travel going to impact the industry?

Social media and marketing - how to get the greatest impact.

Could virtual reality tourism eventually replace traditional travel experiences?

2:30 PM – 2:55 PM
Fireside Chat with special guest CEO Speaker
2:55 PM – 3:50 PM
Panel 3 - Preserving Paradise - sustainability and travel

We’ve seen protests this year against too much tourism in Spain, particularly the Canary Islands, and there have been protests in Venice and elsewhere. A flash-in- the pan or the start of something bigger?

Can spreading the load by persuading travellers to visit lesser-known destinations ever work or is it more about EVERY traveller having a positive impact? How do we achieve that?

What about extending the tourism calendar?

Emissions from the travel and tourism industry contribute to 8.8% of total global emissions. It’s the travel industry’s job to get that figure down - but how to achieve that and is enough being done?

Can we honestly expect to preserve fragile environments while enabling travellers to experience them?

Food for thought:

How to manage tourism to protect ecologically-sensitive areas.

Should Governments fiscally incentivise sustainable tourism?

Is the travel industry treating sustainability seriously?

International standards on sustainable tourism - establishing them and enforcing them.

Making tourism a 365-days-a-year experience, not just the summer.
